trying to have a coin register a credit but ends up in the return slot Non MAME

Could be an Taito cabinet.  That is the same door I have one mine.  I have not fully gotten to my door yet, but the best I can tell is that you can power them up just like the lights.  Someone can probably verify if they need 12V or 5V.  Once they receive juice, then they will let the quarter through.  They are in place so if anyone drops in a quarter while the machine is off, it just falls into the coin return.

mrclean:
wow cool good to know and yes it is a taito cabinet, my 12v is running to my JAMMA harness, where exactly does the 12v / 5v or whatever i need plug into on that coin door ? Initially when i got this machine the coin doors did light up, but i have removed many of the older wires, because i installed a new jamma harness

cmoses:
I am using a computer and computer power supply, so I just tapped into an extra line to get the 12V, not sure on the best way to get it for a Jamma cabinet.

Just curious, since I am working with a Taito as well.  Do you have a project page?  Any pictures of what you have done?  What was the cabinet originally?

Here is the link to mine:  http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=82903.0

I am MAMEing mine, but it was a Taito that was converted to a 1943 Battle of Midway, so it had already been converted and was in pretty bad shape.  Just curious as to what others are doing.

mrclean:
No i don't have a project page as of yet, but it is certainly a project. Honestly I have no idea what taito game it originally was, could of been a zoo - keeper, jungle hunt, elevator action etc. I'm converting mine to a Dedicated Gun.Smoke machine to get the world record hopefully. I basically liked the shape of the taito cab for the Gun.Smoke machine specifically because of the monitor orientation. Most Gun.smokes were inside pac-man conversions, however i felt that the monitor is too flat in terms of game play , and the other conversions are more often found in centipede / dig-dug machines where as that is a direct view. I really like the taito cab because the monitor oriention is in between the two of them, it all comes down to personal prefrence of course.  I have seen one taito Gun.Smoke machine I really like the way it looks.

On another note, i think my JAMMA Harness is bad, or my capcom classic to JAMMA adapter is bad, or possibly the pcb... Not sure i'm trying to figure it out. As far as functionality without hooking up buttons, rather testing wires i have all the functions I need with the exception of "Fire Right". I think it's the JAMMA harnes, but again could be of the others ive mentioned.

Oh yeah peale how do i do this :
--- Quote --- Bloody hell...can't believe I missed that.

You can just remove those lockout coils.  Just tie the wires to the side.

is that going to fix /  have the coin fall onto that metal wire , and issue a credit? because someone else said that i need power on the coin door or else it won't accept coins

CrazyKongFan:
My coin mechs look something like those, and they are just plastic, no place to hook up
power. I do have problems with one of them. Sometimes it'll accept a quarter, sometimes
it ends up in the coin return slot. The other one, which is identical, works good most of
the time.
