ArcadeOs question
« on: June 11, 2003, 05:40:24 pm »
I'm setting up a new cabinet and I want all games to be Horizontal, is there any way to do this within  ArcadeOs without changing each game individually to Horizontal?

Thanks!

you want to only include horizontal games? or you want games to all display on your presumably horizontally mounted monitor in the correct orientation?

Confused as to why it's not defaulting to that if you haven't enabled stuff like -ror or -norotate or something...
*Shrug* It's possible I'm really confused, though...

Actually I'm using a Horizontal monitor only, so I need to be able to make all rotated game to show horizontally.  It will take to long to change each game from "R" to "H" manually. Ugh

see,... there shouldn't be any rotated games... unless you either setup MAME or AoS in some wacky way (or if you have some renegade dip switches in certain games)

Hopefully an arcadeOS guru will step in and say, "oh you need to change so and so in your .cfg" but in general I have a horizontal monitor (granted it's a PC monitor) and horizontal games display fine on it... and MAME without any promting from me autorotates the veritcal games to a letter boxed view in proper aspect/orientation on my display.   It's only if you set -norotate that it will disable this ability, in which case that's handy for seeing vertical games full screen correctly on a vertically mounted monitor...

*shrug* I only sorta know what I'm talking about so, YMMV (as per usual)

good luck!

My first cabinet had a stationary horizontal monitor (I've only used vertical monitors in cocktail cabs since), and as I recall it played both horizontal and vertical games no problem, with ArcadeOS straight out of the box. I sold the machine a while ago, so I can't be sure what the default settings were, but...

in arcadeos.cfg you will find these two lines:
  #auto rotate games, left/right
  autorotate=1

you want to change it to autorotate=0

by default, it's set to 0, but maybe you changed it along the way somewhere?

If this doesn't help you, maybe you should try asking on the mameworld.com ArcadeOS message board, there's a bunch of ArcadeOS experts there, including LasVegas who is currently in charge of ArcadeOS development.
