Help with Monitor Mounting Kit - Ultimate Arcade II
paulscade:
KeWLMoNk, I don't know what this mounting bracket of yours looks like so it's difficult for me to comment on exactly how to do it.
For me, I slid the monitor into the cabinet and marked off where the top and bottom of the monitor would rest (the mounting rails on the monitor itself). I wedged some scrap wood under the rear of the monitor until I had the angle that I was looking for before making marks. I also marked up where I placed the scrap wood so I could later (once monitor was removed) screw & glue wood under it to help support it (at the needed angle).
The monitor that I chose is heavy... about 100 pounds. I didn't want to depend on it hanging off of a single 2x4 at the top... so I provided appropriate support under it. I'm sure that the 2x4 could hold it... I was worried about where the 2x4 attaches to the MDF. So it's glued on the inside and screwed with some decent sized wood screws from the outside.
You can sort of see it in this shot:

No matter how you get it in and mark it up, place some wood under the monitor to help hold the weight and don't depend solely on your mounting kit.
