How do I hook up my Oscar Spinner to an Opti-Wiz?

(1/1)

Dazz:
I think I might have purchased the wrong thing from GGG...  My Oscar Spinner has been acting funny, so someone here mentioned getting the Opti-Wiz Spinner Interface from GGG.

On the GGG product description it specifically states:

"3rd Party Verified Device Compatibility List

    * Oscar™ Spinner Optic Board"

How do I go about hooking these up?

I've checked on the GGG site, but there doesn't seem to be any instructions anywhere.  Below is a picture of what I have and what I'm trying to work with.  Is there something that I am missing here?

scotthh:
I can't quite read the board next to the pins on the oscar board. They look like (from top to bottom +5v, Gnd, 1, 2).

The Opti-Wiz can handle three axes (three spinners, or a trackball and a spinner), vs. only one on the Oscar board (if I'm reading it right).

These should be the same:
Opti-Wiz board = Oscar board
use either "G"  =      Gnd
use either +5   =     +5V

Use one axis:
For example
ZA for 1 and ZB for 2. If the spinner is moving the wrong way, you need to swap ZA and ZB.

Dazz:
how would I go about making the wiring harnesses?  The Opti has a 10 pin, but the Oscar has 4.

Search for "Molex" on these forums, you'll get many options, such as salvaging the parts from an old PC. If crimping and/or soldering isn't your thing, contact Groovy Game Gear, Randy might be able to make something custom up for you.
