Hey, Donkey Kong enthusiasts

Ummon:
Whereas those in the Masters thread are apparently hardcore students of the game, this thread is for those who enjoy playing it rather casually. Sort of like the difference between Crochet and Polo.

So, what do some of you like about the game? What are some sort of cute things you've noticed in it?

When I play it now I don't die in 20 seconds :)

I like that it reminds me of my childhood.

I like the game play. Something about this game makes me want to play it.

That you can jump. :dunno

Ginsu Victim:
If it wasn't for Donkey Kong, I'd never have bought a ladder. Thanks Miyamoto!

Turnarcades:
I liked it enough to go back to it regularly even now, though my roots really lie in the post-golden era, more like late-eighties/early nineties, where simple gameplay still existed but the graphics got prettier.

For anyone who liked Donkey Kong, I highly recommend Donkey Kong '94 on the Gameboy. It had the similar challenge of timing and jump dependancy, but had the added bonus of a slight puzzle element and more fluidity of Mario's movement. Plays great on a cab too...
