EMS Top Gun II offscreen reload question

(1/2) > >>

vetteguy112233:
Today I finally received my Area 51 game in the mail, it's the one for PC. I've noticed that I have a very hard time getting the gun to reload. I know that I can press the B button on the gun to get it to reload, but that's no fun. You are suppose to shoot off the screen to reload and it doesn't really work UNLESS I turn the gun sideways super fast then shoot and then turn back to the screen. This may sound normal, but having to wing the gun sideways that fast just isn't normal. I want to just casually shoot off screen and have it work.

I'm using the provided mouse driver by EMS.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

I did my research on the forum before posting this issue and it appears that this is an UNSOLVED issue, so come on guys, let's put our heads together and figure this one out.

With 90+ views on this subject it appears that others are having this issue. Since nobody else is responding, I guess I'll give an update of my progress.

I've found that the gun works perfectly on every corner of the screen, but for some reason when you turn it sideways to reload the mouse pointer doesn't go completely to the edge of the screen, thus not allowing a reload. I've found that moving the gun either super fast or super slow works for reloading, but no happy medium.

I haven't been able to get the offscreen reload to work, other than the method you described of quickly shoot sideways. I've come to the conclusion that this just doesn't work properly, and I'll be forced to press the B button to reload. However, for whatever reason some games (Lethal Enforcers for MAME) don't accept the button press as a reload. I have the button assigned in the Top Gun Control Panel, as well as enabling offscreen_reload in the MAME ini file, but no luck. Unless there is something else I can do, the only other option is to enable the unlimited ammo cheat for the games that do this. It's not ideal, but it's better than only having one round the entire game.

Again, please, verify that you don't have mouse enabled for the games that use lightguns. Lethal Enforces reload perfectly with a button with offscreen_reload enabled. Only disable mouse  (mouse 0) or be sure that there is no mouse button assigned to reload button, only a gun button.

This is because Aaron modified the reload system and now, it is not possible to reload with the second button2 if you are using a mouse. This is not a bug, it's a feature, because pressing a button to reload is considered a hack. The offscreen_reload is only for using with lightguns like actlabs (this guns must be offscreen_reload always enables to work properly) or LCDTopGuns, where this option is optional, because the LCDTopGun can provide to MAME the offscrren status.
