Parts Inventories
Mauzy:
Back when I was buying most of what I have I was too young to find a job that wouldn't involve cornfields, so I had to buy whatever was cheapest. Im still without job (thatll change here soon), but I wont buy stuff like permanent (i have tons extra) controls till I can afford top of the line stuff. Most of what I have pictured above is stuff that Ive slowly replaced with better stuff on my cabs...
BTW, as for labeling, Im still using the "duct-tape and sharpie" method on boxes. I use dry erase markers on clear containers.

I had to work as a bouncer at a club on George Street to finance this hobby, 100% of the funds from that job. It sucks being a poor student... :banghead:...
My system involves labeled boxes in the corner of the room where i study, its a terrible spot since it has distracted me quite a bit. I keep things in common boxes such as controls, wiring, hardware, etc.

Amen!
I have made a consious effort in the last year NOT to buy anything I don't have an active plan for. I need to get rid of half my stuff.

My days of buying toys is coming to an end. I'll have to do work with whatever I have now I guess.
The hand writting is on the wall, they just brought in an axe man at work... The old manager didn't outsource enough people so they got rid of him and brought someone new in. I just hope I can survive this round of cuts, if not... well the arcade is the last of my worries!
I kept mine in a pile, but I have enough stuff now that I really need to get it organized.

I went from one 20 year old generic control panel (which I had adapted to NES, Genesis, Mac, X-Box over the years)
and some spare buttons, to 4 games, 8 monitors in various states, and over 5 boxes of stuff. Not counting the stuff that doesn't fit in boxes.
I started late, made up for time.. some stuff is worthless, others not so much. I usually get proven wrong by someone needing a ratty coin door for parts, etc.
I consider the parts as my working budget/ bank; If I want some shiny trinket for one of the projects, I have to dig out and post some things and ship em' out. Keeps the whole thing in perspective.
I still need to pull that standard TV out of my Centipede now that I have a real monitor to put in there.:)
