How Do I Replace Cam lock Keys?
Boingo:
I have a Nintendo Versus sit down cabinet, which still has its original cam locks on it. Unfortunately, I do not have the keys that go with the cam locks. I really do not want to buy new cam locks for it, since I would rather keep the originals. What I am hoping to do is simply buy a key, then alter the locks slightly so that they will use the new key to open.
I know that with barrel locks, you can make them function by removing the barrel, inserting the new key, then filing the pins down flush with the barrel, but these are the kind of locks with keys similar to ones used in bicycle locks, and I am not sure what to do with these ones.
Does anyone know how to get cam locks of this type functioning?
Ginsu Victim:
Even though this isn't what you want to hear, drill it out and install a new one. That's your best option. Not expensive to replace.
Ken Layton:
All Nintendo cabinets (upright or table or tent) use Nintendo standard key number K6510 for the monitor lid and back doors. The cashbox door lock is always keyed individually and is 5/8" long.
I think Arcadeshop or Mike's Arcade sells precut k6510 keys.
Ginsu Victim:
Good to hear better options than what I gave! ;D
Boingo:
Ugh. :-\
I've been looking around, and I can not find new cam locks. Well ... I did find one, but it was not what I hoped for.
Searching the net didn't do much for me either. :-[
