Ugh, I never liked those things as a kid. I always thought they were kinda creepy, and it was just an obstacle cutting into my arcade time.
Of course, the next time your father-in-law or someone rolls their eyes at your arcade cabinet collection, just point them to this video. Suddenly you don't seem so geeky in comparison. 8)

And I thought my secret obession of wanting a whack-a-mole was odd. Those things really are creepy. Reminds me of going to Chuck E Cheeze's and staring at those lifeless monsters, then having them blare into life.
Yah.. going to stick to the arcade machines. heh.

Heh, I think it's awesome...if I had the space and so much money I didn't know what to do with (ha ha), it'd be neat :) Growing up, my mom always took me and my brother out to Showbiz on Friday nights, and even had a couple birthday parties there. I don't think they sat there lifeless in full view though, as soon as they got done playing, they drew the curtains. Then a guy (or girl I guess, since they didn't talk) in a Billy Bob Bear costume would come out, and you could get pictures with him. At least that's how I remember them doing it at the local one. Maybe Chuck E Cheeze did it differently (we didn't have one of those near me)
