Video card or VGA-to-S-video adapter needed?
(1/1)
vidmouse:
I'm in the process of upgrading my cab's PC... got some of the components
(the power supply and case are on backorder but should arrive shortly).
One thing I noticed was that the mobo only has PCI-E video slots, which
I can't use b/c all my cards are AGP.
Soo......
If I want to hook this up to my cab's tv (which only has S-video and composite
inputs) I know I can spend about $40 and get a cheap PCI-E card and
w/ an s-video out, or...
Can I use a VGA/SVGA to S-video adapter cable for $5 to make it work? ANyone ever
try one of these?
The mobo I have is a MSI K9N6GM with onboard nvidia MCP61 chipset.
Thanks....

NOTE: Your VGA card must support TV out directly through VGA port function. Please consult with your VGA card's user manual for more information.

Yeah I read that, but the mobo manual doesn't say anything
about this.... (I'm hoping to just use the onboard video)
... was hoping someone had some experience w/ this...

Stuff it... just bought this instead:
ATI radeon 9200se
for about $10 shipped off ebay.
Hope it doesn't have problems running nulldc....

Very few vga out work with that type of adapter. Your 9200 should be fine. If not, pci-e cards can be picked up pretty darn cheap nowadays.
