California Extreme - WHO'S GOING?
Namco:
Just spent 13 hours playing countless pinballs and video games. Met Frizz, Circo, and Jimjim. Heading out for day 2. Maybe this time I can play some Indiana Jones, Star Wars, or Revenge from Mars. They were occupied for the entire day and I hate waitint in line :D. Finally got a chance to play all the pins in Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection except for Pinbot, Gorgar and Jivetime. Taxi is beautiful in person. i was really impressed with how good Centaur looks in person, it's just beautiful. Played F14 Tomcat, Big Bang Bar, Cactus Jack, Nascar, The Machine (Pinbot 2) and World Cup for the first time and really liked them. Probably my favorite of the night was Attack from Mars. Great pin, fun, fast, and full of toys.
There was also a demo of Street Fighter 2 Turbo HD Remix. Lets just say that I've gotta hack an Xbox 360 controller and get an Xbox 360 in my cab. That thing was beautiful. Well, I"m outta here. Got another 10.5 hours to go :applaud:

Twas a cool expo. Really enjoyed Jeff Kulczycki's talk about the making of Donkey Kong 2 and Aaron Giles' talk about MAME. Props to whomever brought Congo Bongo. I was looking forward to playing Super Zaxxon for the first time on actual hardware, but I couldn't find it.
Circo:
Aaron did have a curious little slip about the future of 3D acceleration and mame during his talk, it was a small one with no details but has me thinking hmmmmmm. I guess we will eventually find out what that was all about ;)

It's on the radar probably because somebody's submitted code for it. It's going to happen eventually. Games entering the codebase are getting more and more complex with 3D and 3D acceleration so using the PC's GPU is like the 800 pound gorilla in the room. All that number crunching power in those GPUs sitting there unused, and the precedent was already set by making MAME Multi-threaded for multi-CPU core support. Just takes one developer to work on it to get it going.
But what do I know?, I don't know a pointer from an array. :D

I guess it's officially DK2 now (instead of D2K). I would've liked to have heard Aaron's talk. I guess I'll have to settle for his blog, though.
