GameEx--Anybody use it?
« on: May 02, 2008, 11:02:56 am »
After researching the forums and different frontends, I think I want to use GameEx for my frontend.  I just wanted to post to see if anybody has any warnings or suggestions.  I will be running Vista, but have absolutely NO idea how to install my front end and run it, screen shots look pretty straight forward.  I'll be running every major console and MAME, probably Mame .124.

Has anybody run GameEx and experienced any problems?  My computer is expected to arrive tomorrow and I'm wanting to download everything I need today--is the process simply drag-and-drop, install, play?

I know that you are specifically asking about GameEx...  It's a good front end and fairly user friendly for the most part.

However, if you really want user friendly and kid friendly then I would highly suggest checking out Maximus Arcade.  I use it as my primary front end for right now and haven't had a single issue with it after I initially set it up.  Setup is a matter of navigating to the .exe for the mulator and pointing to the roms folders.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Have you consulted the Wiki page and looked at all of your options? Particularly the free ones?
