my CP (gpwiz and U360s) is becoming the bane of my existence AGAIN
mrsenatoriii:
Hello friends,
I have been working on a arcade cabinet for the past few months and would have been finished long ago if not for the problem I am having right now. I have made some changes to my approach and yet can still not get my setup to work. Currently I have Groovy Game Gears GP-Wiz Max 32 USB which I have used, along with the Ultimarcs U360s to build a cp. I am having problems getting it to work with any program I try. It didnt work with MALA so I tried Mamewah. Didnt work there so I figured, "enough with all this, I need something else" and decided to try Maximus Arcade (3.0.8)
And much to my chagrin, it didnt work there either. Here is what happens: I wire up all the p1 buttons to the gp-wiz and then run Maximus and it will not recognize any of the keystrokes. It recognizes the u360s no problem. Further more when I tested it with just one player 1 button, it did recognize it; only when I add a second button (and more) it doesnt work at all. (It does work in Windows control panel though)
I recognize that you may point out that this seems to be a GP-Wiz problem, but since its working in Windows, that seems unlikely.
Thank you for your assistance, as it will save my arcade from getting thrown off the golden gate.

Steps I take to be sure the GP-Wiz boards work for me:
1. Does it work in Windows Control Panel? Are the buttons showing up in the Game Controller Properties, etc?
2. Try using Joy2Key or XPaddle and see if that overrides the FE and helps.
3. Try another FE that is known to detect GP-Wiz boards. (i.e. GameEX, Maximus, Atomic, etc)
Sounds to me like a Joy2Key or other such program might fix the issue. I had the exact same problem when asking Daphne to see my buttons when I ran it from within GameEX FE. Joy2Key fixed the problem easily.
mrsenatoriii:
1. The GP does work in windows control panel which makes the whole thing only that much more annoying.
2. Neither joy2key or xpadder work (they will not recognize any keypress)
3. I am already using maximus.
To throw another big ugly wrench in the whole thing, maximus will recognize a keystroke if I hold down botton 1 and hen press button 2- it will recognize the second button as long as the first is being held down. It doenst matter what 2 buttons i press it will do this.
Havok:
Sounds like you have the GP Wiz wired wrong. Make sure you have everything wired to NO (normally open), not NC (normally closed)...
mrsenatoriii:
You know its kinda a mixed blessing because on the one hand:
My cp works now;
It was relatively easy to fix;
the SF Bay is saved from more trash;
and I can stop getting the "when is this thing going to be done" condescending statements
but on the other hand:
I feel like a bit of a moron;
I may have to get a new name on the forums you know... because of the shame.
Regardless of both hands thanks Havok ever so much!
Ill be sure to post pics of it once Ive finished it.
