What do you use for the 'accelerator' function?

Avrus:
So some of the games I really enjoyed were the Super Sprint and Offroad series.  My intention was to use the spinners for driving type games but I seem to be at a snag.

The 'pedal' function in Mame is intended to be mapped to an analogue control (makes sense).  What do you guys use as a work around?  Just map it to a pushbutton and call it a day? 100% acceleration or 0%?

vorghagen:
Map it to a pushbutton and call it a day. Think of it this way, when did you ever, EVER use half throttle on super sprint? Most people just planted their foot and steered like crazy, the fancy people occasionally took their foot off after a spin but I don't think I ever saw moderate use of that pedal.

robC:
I agree. Just use a pushbutton. I actually find SS to be one of my most played games since I built my cab, and it is surprisingly fun to play with the spinner. I am better at it with the spinner than I used to be with the wheel.

Minwah:
Yeah a pushbutton will do, but I have to say some games definately benefit from having an analog pedal. For example it's easier to pull away without wheelspinning in OutRun.

Ginsu Victim:
Speaking of Outrun, what's the best setup if you have joysticks and buttons only? (well, I have a spinner, but that's out of the question)
Every time I try it in mame, it doesn't seem quite right.
