I bought two Topgun light guns, and was extremely disappointed....  Thats when I started looking at using my wii remote instead.

I did see somewhere that someone had a glovepie script for the classic pad using a wii remote on the pc.

Currently I use two wireless Playstation 2 controllers from walmart and a playstation 2 usb adapter that I bought for my dance pads.

Thanks I had read about it before but just didn't give it much thought. I tried it out tonight and it seems to be working ok, I still need to learn some more. Like I don't know how to disconnect the wii remote by using a button or anything I just removed the batteries to disconnect it, maybe just letting it go for a bit will shut it off? But I have no light to tell me its on or off(believe that can be set to show in the script)

I unfortunately can't get analog control from the classic controller to work in Project 64 as I'm running vista x64(we love the vista media center and I have more than 3 gigs of ram so I get the fun of dealing with vista and x64 for all the emulators and programs, it really hasn't been to bad though) and to get the analog working it looks like you need PPJoy and it doesn't work in vista x64. I'll try out the gun portion in the next couple of days hopefully then I'll have to get a wireless infrared bar.

Thanks for all the replies.

The Logitech dual Action supports the analog controls on Project 64. Pretty tight at that.

Avoid this dual Action controller below as the D-pad sucks major ass.

Thanks for all the replies. I think for now I'll just stick with the 360 controller.

The glovepie, wiimote setup's not quite there yet in my opinion. The classic controller does work pretty well in most emulators but without ppjoy analog doesn't work and pj64 stinks without analog. The whole setup feels kind of hacked together also. I have to click connect in the bluetooth settings and then press 1+2 to sync them every time I want to play also I saw some auto connect scripts but they were for certain bluetooth stacks, and that was a pain too trying to find a good bluetooth stack that didn't cost money/worked. The mame gun scripts seem not quite ready yet either as they are a bit jumpy.

The classic controller is nice though. The buttons feel very nice, dpad of course great, and it has the right number of buttons for most emulators. I think a driver for the wii remote and addons will come out at some point that works well and just shows up under the joysticks in the control panel with no need to use glove pie and ppjoy and such(I really hope so anyway) then that will definitely be what I use.

The GF has now said to me that corded is not a solution, she doesn't want cords running across the living room(she let me spend a fair amount of money buying a nice htpc case with a vfd display and such so it would look nice in our living room so I guess I can understand) so efjayel those solutions are out thank you though, guess even if someone makes a usb adapter for the classic controller I can't use it.

She hates the ps controllers but I think if someone makes a dual shock 3 driver that works over bluetooth maybe we'll try those. I like the fact that the battery is built in and rechargeable over usb.

Thanks again for all the replies I think I'll mess around with setting the analog stick as the digital and see how that works I know a bunch of emulators have adjustments for that kind of setup.

(The classic controller really is nice though in my opinion and would be ideal I think just needs good drivers to come out, I'm surprised more people aren't interested in it)
