NEC Multisync Monitors

Hi All,

Anyone know what a good price for the NEC 3pg and 4pg monitors are?  I'm thinking of getting one of these over the d9200 since It seems I may be able to get one cheaper.  I was offered $250 for one.

Are these monitors comparable to the d9200?  The specs for the 4pg look pretty good.

I got my 3pg for $150...unbeliable picture...
its like d9200(didnt try 15khz though).
and so far...mame looking great and dreamcast just "dream".
only problem is it didnt come with a remote so I cant get it to full screen but I am trying to buy a programed remote from someone here !
I will email the guy who I purchased from to see if he has any more left.
also have s-video input..great for hooking up consoles like ps2 as well !

I have 2 3pg's. I paid $100 for each. (I know people ) Make sure it comes with the remote! Snack can tell you about that  I use mine mostly for tv because they have a GREAT picture through s-video. 600 lines of resolution.

I would say $250 is a good price though.

From experience, I would highly recommend the 4pg.  I am currently using a used 27" NEC 4PG Multisync color video monitor that I bought off of Ebay for $75.  There was no shipping costs because I picked it up myself.  Granted, there is a slight burn in that is noticable on light screens, but for 75 bucks, I don't really care!
It works very well for my needs, plays most games superbly.  And I absolutely LOVE the 27" over my previous 17" pc monitor.  I am using a regular 15pin vga cable.  (The s-vid worked but is inferior for computer output).  This also allows for lightgun support!  (police trainer is becoming a favorite!) Also mounts well inside cabs...the width is minimal, so no fuss.

What's the purpose of the remote?  I see the jacks in the back for a remote, but why would I need it?  I suppose I could use one to turn on the monitor remotely (lol), but all I have to do is unplug, power off....plug back in, power on.  I'm thinking of getting one of those power strips that turn on the other outlets when the PC powers down for this.

Anyone know how to set the resolution to 1024 x 768?  Mine maxes out at 800 x 600.  Not that big of a deal, but vector games don't display correctly, and I believe this resolution issue is the problem.

Well, on my 3pg, the remote is used to stretch and shrink the screen as well as setting the overscan so if the screen is too small, it will increase the screen size. Very handy.  It can also set the position of the screen and brightness and contrast and color and tint etc etc etc

The way I set mine to 1024x768 (which the book says it cannot do) is to set the monitor up as an "NEC multisync 3D" monitor in windows. That seems to set the refresh rate correctly. Try it out. I am not sure if it the same for the 4pg. Good luck.

Sounds like the remote is useful...anyone know where I can pick one up?  By the way, what do you set your refresh rate to?  60Hz seems to work well for mine, but I was wondering if I could set it higher...maybe with the remote?

Reserve price may be too high...buy it now is 350.  Also not sure what the shipping will be...have to email the guy...also it says the case is cracked on top (for both of them?)

I am not sure how you set it in XP. I have only done it with Win98SE. Maybe someone else couold help you with that one. Sorry. Good luck.

Anyone know how to set the resolution to 1024 x 768?

Well, I figured it out!  All I had to do was set the refresh rate to 60htz, and the resolution works at 1024 x 768 (duh!).  I was previously trying it at 70, 72, and 75 Htz.  Oh well!  Works GREAT!!!  EVERYTHING I can play on my "real computer" I can play on the NEC4pg!!!  

BTW, recently I was playing Red Faction online with an amp as my "desktop" and the NEC4pg as by big screen PC monitor!  Hehe.

I better explain the amp thing....I set my 4PG monitor on a desk I had so I could test it out.  However, it took up the whole desk, so I had no room for the keyboard/mouse/arcade panel to test.  So I had to sit on the floor.  Cramped my neck looking up, so I looked around and decided to use the amp as the "desktop" for my control panel while I sit on a small bench...
Not only does it support the keyboard well, it puts out bass like no one's buisness!

I realize that this thred is old but a few people seem to have these monitors without remotes so I thought I would post a picture for all to see what the remote does. I can get you a remote by using a programmable remote from radio shack if you need one. This remote is from the 3pg but I would guess it would work for the 4pg as well. I am not gaurenting it will work but I won't leave you out to dry if it doesn't. PM me if you need one.

The lirc (Linux Infrared Remote Control) project has a configuration file for the Nec RD-335E remote, which I am using to control my 4pg monitor. The transmitter circuit was easy to make, just a diode, resistor and IR LED. There is also a windows version of the lirc.

I would be interested. I picked up an NEC PG-2710 but don't have the remote. I bought a remote listed on ebay but the seller canceled it (didn't actually have it in stock).
