well umm its got too rich for my blood pretty quick, any chance of getting a copy of the plans?

melarky:
A copy of the plans would be useless as they are programmed for my machine.  Even if you had your own CNC machine, the chances that I use the same post processor as you is pretty slim, so that wouldn't help either.  I also don't use a standard cad program like mastercam or something, I use a program that can make 2D cuts from vector files.  So the vector plans available at jakobuds website would be a better set of plans for you.

Like I said though, I will hopefully be able to offer kits soon.  I can't remember if I wrote this here already (or over at klov) but I took a look at my CNC machine.  One of the bearings for the ball screw on the y-axis is pretty packed with crud and sawdust.  We're going to have to take it apart and see if we can clean it out, or if we need to buy a new one.  I was hoping it wouldn't be something that involved, but since it is, it looks like it will even be a little longer now until I'm able to cut out kits.  Since it's just a hobby side project type of situation, I just can't find the time to go and start digging into it.  I'm hoping a saturday soon I will have enough time.

MameMaster!:
I'd be in for a kit!

You might get a ton more cash for it if it were on Ebay........ Selling to other DIYers is not the way to get top dollar.

Yeah, probably, but I would feel better about selling it here, and I'm actually happy where it is at currently ($275), I put quite a few hours into it, but no one wants to pay for that, and like you said, it's definately not worth it to people who make this stuff themselves.

I have actually had more people interested in it over on the klov boards than here, but I listed it here too since I had a project thread here about it and figured I might as well list it here in case someone here was dying to have it.

I have had quite a few people ask me to make different cabinets (like this one, finished, painted, artwork applied, and working), but that just doesn't seem very appealing to me because these things do take quite a bit of time (and some of the stuff like the screen isn't that cheap either).  If you're willing to do the deal hunting though, you could probably get one of these screens relatively cheap, and same goes for the jakks games, I have seen those on super blow-out every once in a while, so even the cost of the materials to some might seem like nothing.

I think once I'm able to cut and sell kits, more people here will be interested.  Even those here that are very capable wood workers would probably still enjoy putting together one of the kits (especially if they are priced right, once I finish my tool paths completely and do some test cuts, I should be able to make sure I'm able to offer them in an attractive price range, the only thing that would really affect price in kits is the wood price, which shouldn't be too bad since the kits are smaller and need less wood, and machining time, which could potentially be a problem, but I don't think so).  If I get a system and cut out 10 kits at a time, it should be worth my time and still be affordable, but we'll just have to see when we actually get to that stage...
