Remote control for my jukebox cabinet .... possible?
unclet:
My jukebox cabinet is almost complete. It is a touchscreen jukebox but will have wireless keyboard/mouse handy for configuration of the computer (if required) and will eventually have wireless ethernet connection as well for adding to the song files.
I was thinking it would be nice to use all this wireless technology to be able to control the jukebox from across the room or from the outside patio (ie: change the volume, skip a song, etc....). As a result, I was wondering whether anyone makes a remote control to help me accomplish this.......
Now, since all the jukebox functions have associated keyboard key mappings, I could control eveything I need to by using the wireless keyboard. However, telling the wife she has to carry around a keyboard to control the jukebox and must press "U" to turn the volume up and "D" to turn it down on a keyboard is not what I am looking for.
It would be nice to have a PC remote control which allows the user to assign their own keyboard key mappings to each button on the remote so I can use the remote to control anything on the computer I want to
Anyone have any ideas or recommendations?
** Also, I do not want to spend tons of money making this work either ...
(EDIT)
I see they sell PC remote controls ........ do things like these allow you to assign keys to the buttons yourself?
Something like these ...... do they allow mapping of the buttons?

No. But I did find a solution. There's a program that let's you assing keyboard keys to it. It's called Miri Server. I already had that control since I bought it to use with Geexbox. But I thought it would be cool if I could integrate Mplayer into Mamewah and see my movies from there. That way I wouldn't have 2 pc's hooked up to the tv (arcade pc and geexbox). So I succeded in integrating Mplayer. But to my dissapointment Mamewah wouldn't respond to the button presses from the IR Remote. :-\ (Anyone know why that is?)
Anyways since I tend to jump from one project to another I decided to make a small tutorial for when I got back to it.
Anyways here's the software with the tutorial. Miri Server + Tutorial

I am confused ..... are you indicating you have some type of remote control which did not allow key mapping but then you developed some software to allow key mapping to it, but it did not work?
I am confused as to what type of remote control you have.

I have the same control in your link. The software it comes with is useless. You have to use 3rd party software to simulate keyboard presses (Miri Server).

There are two links .... which one do you have?
Also, did you ever get your remote control working?
