MameWah Game list issue
Taborious:
I have an arcade and everything runs fine with mamewah (version 1.61) as the frontend, all roms, no filtered lists.
I built a new mini-arcade for nephews for xmas and I only have a 10gb drive in the new system and of course, only want certain games for the kids. So I copied over my mame and mamewah folder from the working system to the new system, it worked ok, BUT, once I deleted ALL the roms in the roms folder and just copied in the roms i want to be played I can't get a list of JUST those new roms. I looked in mame32.ini and at the bottom i see a list of ALL roms not just mine and if i delete it just recreates the ini file. I followed the directions in the mamewah FAQ for generating a list, start mamewah > 2 > 1 > 1 (generate list) but nothing. I deleted all the ini files in /mamewah/ini/0000.ini & 0000-0.ini and recreated them empty and tried to generate the mamewah list again from mamewah but it still show no available games..... HELP

Maybe the files are set to read only? Use this tool to remove it and try again. Remove Read Only.zip
Also, did you make sure you had the correct rom paths in mamewah's ini files.
Taborious:
Path is correct, because if i generate the list from the mamewah config utility; forget the name, it generates a list of ALL the mame games and if i select one i know exists out of the list it works, but I just can't get the list to generate JUST the games in the roms folder.
I ran the read only app but it made no changes, the app showed there was nothing changed and i went and checked and there were no read only files.
One thing that I found weird is, im using mame32, whwn i run mame32 and audit the games it finds only the new games. From the command line when i run mame32 -listxml or -listinfo or -list or -listgames, i get nothing.

I guess they didn't get their christmas present? :badmood:
Anyways you could also try changing the list generation method to rom_folder_vs_dat_file.
You can download the dat file for your mame version here. Then just modify your ini file to point to the dat file.
--- Code: ---### mame.ini (mamewah v1.61) ###
emulator_title mame
### List Generation Settings ###
rom_path E:\videogames\mame37\roms
rom_extension zip
dat_file E:\videogames\mame37\mame37.dat
nms_file
catver_ini_file
list_generation_method rom_folder_vs_dat_file
--- End code ---

Well, I can generate a Full game list, it's generating the psuedo filtered on. I cleaned out the roms forlder and only have the .zip files there that i want the kids to be able to play. Now with that setup I can not generate a game list. For some reason it doesn't look in the roms folder to generate the list, not sure where it is looking.
This is from the mamewah log:
1/3/2008 12:15:49 PM MAMEWAH launched

1/3/2008 12:15:49 PM Games list read: mame-0.lst
1/3/2008 12:15:49 PM Layout selected: D:\Mamewah\layouts\Classic 640x480\layout.lay
1/3/2008 12:15:49 PM Ctrlr file selected: D:\Mamewah\ctrlr\default.ini
1/3/2008 12:15:52 PM Commandline run: CMD.EXE /c D:\mame32\mame32.exe -listinfo > D:\Mamewah\mame.dat {flags=17}
1/3/2008 12:15:52 PM Games list read: mame-0.lst
1/3/2008 12:15:55 PM MAMEWAH quit
So it has a game list set for read, mame-0.lst, but that file does not exist. and I dont know how to create that file for mamewah to read. All the mame command line options don't generate any output. mame32.exe -list show nothing...
