Static Electricity sometimes makes my keywiz go crazy!
rdowdy95:
Hey guys. I have the Keywiz 1.5 encoder. Love it by the way. Sometimes though when I play the games. Like say I will play a little bit, then leave then come back to the machine and right when I touch one of the buttons I will get a little jolt of static electricity, then the keywiz like doesn't work properly. I like the buttons do different stuff. Like esc button wont esc, but do something different then my p1 button 1 button actually seems to be like the esc key. To fix the issue I ususally use the trackball aka mouse to shut the system off, then I turn it back on.

It may not be necessary to shut down, rather just re-upload the codes.
Do you have plexi on your panel by any chance?

That is really strange. Do you have any open wires under your panel as the charge shouldn't carry through the plastic buttons, into the microswitches, and down to the encoder.
Does it always happen when you come back from being away, or just when you feel a static charge disipate? Have you tried starting it up and dragging your feet, with socks on, across the carpet, to create a small static charge? If this still causes it then something is very wrong, if not it could be some issue with delay or a screensaver.

Hey RandyT I have everything on default so I don't even have the little software installed on the encoder. I don't have plexi in front of the machine.
I don't get near the TV screen though when it happens.
It is when I come back to the machine usually after walking around then it happens. Sometimes it happens when I touch the trackball other times it happens just by pressing a button. I know the trackball isn't grounded. I still need to do that. It is weird. I really don't know what is causing it. I do need to get around to getting some plexi put up. Just haven't done it yet.

Only happens when I feel the static shock.
