Having trouble with my BYOAC nickel 0.984 coins and new Happ's mech

<< < (2/2)

It's a mechanical mech... and this one is a replacement already.  The last one I had did the same thing, so I asked Happs to send another and to make sure it's working.

Actually, I have 5 different Happs mechs... (2 x 0.984, 2 x US 25 cent, 1 x Canadian Quarter).

I have no idea what to do, does it have anything to do with the fact that the coin is Nickel and not the Brass one?

I wouldn't have thought so... If it's a solely mechanical mech then the only thing it's measuring is the size.  It may be that the thickness or weight of the token is upsetting it. Your other option is to get hold of Happ again and send them this one back, with the token and ask them to send you one out that works with that token.

If you see the picture, I'm just wondering... shouldn't that mech work "as is" without any modification?

If you bought 0.984 mechs and only the right one is working, the left one is defective/improperly adjusted.  I'm sure Happ will exchange it for you.

No, what he means is it's coming out of the reject and not out of the coin box exit on the mech. In other words the mech is simply not accepting the coin. This is assuming that it's set up properly to take them.

No?   No what?  If it isn't accepting the coin I would think it is defective in some way.

What you said was... as he has two coin mechs and one of them is accepting them and the other isn't then send the defective one back. However... That's not the case. What he was saying is that this mech is sending the coin down the right hand mech exit (Reject) instead of the left hand mech exit (Coin Accept). Not that he has a right hand mech that works and a left hand one that doesn't.

Not necessarily defective!  more likely, just not set up for these tokens. Coin mechs are designed to reject slugs. IE It thinks the token is defective. That may be due to the different thickness of this token or due to the different weight of this token..  It doesn't actually mean that the mech is necessarily defective. Just that it thinks these tokens are fakes.

It may just need setting up properly. They can be adjusted.... See the two screws with the red paint locking them?? those are for mech adjustment turn one way they tighten the accept (reject more).. turn the other way they slacken the accept (accept more).  HOWEVER!! Word of caution here... if you don't know how to do it properly you can screw it up completely.

As I said, send it back to HAPP with the token and get them to send you one that works with that token.

Ahhhh.  Thanks.  I am slow.
I did say "defective/improperly adjusted" originally though  8)
