Hi Guys

No doubt this has been answered loads of times... I have searched lol

Basically a couple of quick replies from guys with old systems should do etc....

I'm putting an old Pentium 400MHZ in a cab I would normally run mame32 and select my game and all would be well....

I have downloaded (MAME, MAME32, MALA and MAMEWAH)

What do I do to have Win98 boot load up the correct frontend and I can start my game ?

Quick instructions would be great :)

DaveMMR:
Put a shortcut for the frontend of your choice in your STARTUP folder of your Start Menu (All Programs).  Or you can make the frontend your shell instead of Explorer.  (Google "Replacing Windows 98 Shell", I only saw how to do it for XP in the Wiki.  Regardless, it's pretty easy).

Also, you only need one FrontEnd and regular MAME.   So choose either MALA or MAMEWAH and use regular old MAME -- or just use MAME32 as it is own frontend).

Thanks for that Dave.... It is a mega old system but a shame to waste it when I have a couple of cabs in storage.... It runs Mame32 perfectly, plays all the oldies perfectly....

It has an original SB64 and Intel Graphics.... USB and DVD so perfect....

Will LYK how I get on etc....

Do not use MALA. It will run very slowly on that system. Use either GameLauncher or Mamewah. I also have a 400mhz pc that i'm still putting the finishing touches on and Mamewah runs great.

To add to his suggestion, you may also want to find an older version of MAME (like .36 or something) since the newer versions will slug along on a 400mhz PC.
