oversized joystick? (insert perverted comment here)

Hey all,

I have an idea for a new project from my home arcade but need to know if a component exists or is something that could be scratch built.

The project calls for two oversized joysticks....the size of a flightstick would be about right but in the shape of either a battop or even a simple straight round piece.

Any ideas where I would find something like that?

Oh yeah.....I forgot to add one thing......no analog.

Microswitch based

I would build them using Xenophobe sticks for the base.
All you'd need is a straight sleeve, like a Tron stick, and then you could build your own top with wood/plastic/etc...
You could even do something with full-sized pool balls, or the acrylic juggling balls, if you wanted.

Any other possible solutions?

I was thinking about something from Happ, etc.....

the NOS thing can get a little expensive, and my budget isn't the biggest for this project.

If you're looking for something that comes pre-built with a giant handle, you're pretty much out of luck.  Original Berzerk sticks have a big bat handle, but they're not as big as you want, very hard to come by, and go for big $$ on ebay.  There was an old Exidy game- Targ?  that had an oversized balltop- but again, not as big as you described and hard to come by.

You're pretty much going to have to homebuild the handle and attach it to an existing joystick base.  You could use a standard joy like a Super or Competition, but the extra-tall, extra-heavy handle would probably overpower the spring and possibly break the joystick base.

NoOne's right; you need something heavy-duty like a triggerstick base: Xenophobe, Gorf, Tron, or the like.

Happ still sells triggersticks.  It'll cost a lot more to buy them from Happ than to pick up some used ones on ebay, though.
