Button Sizing and Spacing.
stace:
Guys,
I'm trying to sort out my cp design and hope you can help?
I understand that a happ button requires a hole of 1 1/8" is that correct?
What is the overal width of the button including the 'lip' ?
Thanks
Stace :)
4Aaron GE:
Most buttons are spaced 1.5" apart, centre to centre.

This is correct. I personally suggest a fostner bit. For other hole related questions, don't forget about this thread about hole sizes.

I've also used a step bit... a little rougher going, but
it gave me a cleaner hole.
From what I've read, most people get away with
just using spade bits too.
I think I saw a set of forstner bits at Big Lots the other day for
$15 or so... don't know how good they are though.

I use forstner bits to drill out the holes and I space them 1-3/8" on center.
