Ultrastik 360 "up" direction?
csa3d:
So I've done some quick searching, and didn't find what I'm after; was hoping someone how's got theirs up and running can help:
With the U360's, you can basically mount them however you please. This being said, the diamond shaped circuit board on the bottom determines the joystick's "up" directions, correct? Assuming each edge of the diamond board are labeled NorthEast, NorthWest, SouthEast, Southwest... on one edge, there's a connection where you plug the USB cord into. So, my question, which cardinal direction should this connector be facing in order to NOT have to remap the joystick via software?
I'm not to the point of installing the computer, or i'd test this myself. My control panel is kinda tight and I'd like to get it set up properly so I don't have redo this step later.
Thanks again!

So no one has to read that confusing thread again.. I gather that this is correct:
No matter how your joy is mounted, unscrew the bottom circuit board and rotated it to look as follows, looking at joy upside down (bottom mount)
up
/\
/ \
/ \
right \ / left
pin usb
\/
down

I was going to take a picture but I can't find my digicam's flash card. So I'll just tell you how I figured it out. First off the top metal base is a square, well more like a rectangle. Be sure to mount it straight, not angled like a diamond. It's square in shape after all. in shape. Next is that the metal base thing is completely removeable so if you mount it, you can always unscrew the bottom part and rotate it.
Now if you really don't want to go through that, then how abou yout do what I did and simply plug the u360 into an availabe USB port and test it? Windows automatically see's it as an analog gamepad. Go into Windows Control Panel, select Game Controllers and there you are. That's how I figured it out. It's not rocket science.

I believe that to be 100% correct in my experience as well. Nice diagram.
Edit: Except I think your left and right are mixed up.
