Making arcade adapters???
« on: September 12, 2007, 06:58:57 pm »
So, I recently bought a Galaxian to jamma adapter on ebay. It works great but In doing the research to learn what I need I figured that I might be able to build one.

I think some members here do this.  Do you just take a 56 pin edge fingerboard (I have no idea what I would call it if asking at my local electronics store) and solder the 56 pin edge connecter to one side and the adapted edge connector on the other and then match upp all the connecting wires? (providing you have pinout diagrams for both?)

In my case it would have been a 44 pin Namco to the 56 pin Jamma.

Is there anything else I'm missing?

I think I would like to make my next one.

Basicaly that's it, but for some games there is sometimes a little electronics needed, like Nintendo and Pleiads/Phoenix.

Here's a good starting point for parts to do it yourself.

And on this page you can see exactly how you would have done that yourself as galaxian and pacman are pretty similar.
