I think so.  I can do great on my T&F but can't do crap on it on my MAME machine with micros.  The leafs have a longer stroke, have a nice bounce back, and only contact at the very bottom of the stroke.  Your mileage may vary...

Its an idiom meaning you may not experience the same thing he did.

You should map the run buttons to left and right on the joystick as Malenko mentioned.  Then wiggle left and right as fast as you can to run.  If you get significantly higher running speeds then you can probably rule out the encoder as the problem.  I wouldn't go out and buy leaf buttons until you know what the problem is.

Also noteworthy is my leafs are original and appear to be thicker/stronger than those on most of the new leaf switches I've seen, so there may be a big difference even between leaf buttons.
