I might be able to get a Midway Galaga arcade game
tophatne1:
A person near me is selling a Midway Galaga for $295. I'm thinking that I'd be able to talk him down to like $250-$275. I have not seen it yet so I don't know what the condition is. It's listed as being "GC" but there wasn't to much more info on it.
I've never messed with arcade PCB's or anything like that, just Mame. I could potentially make this into a multi-game cabinet by just switching out the PCB to a multi-game PCB correct?
maybe a multi-midway if there's such a thing. I'm a complete newbie on this type of thing.
If it's in good cosmetic condition and the monitor looks really good I should go for it right?

yes

As long as the case is in good shape and the game is working, I don't think you can go wrong. Even if the monitor isn't the greatest it would be worth it to shop/replace it. Galaga is one of those "must have" arcades for a lot of people, and its potentially worth double what you're paying for it.
I wouldn't mod it though if it is working, just flip it and get yourself an empty cabinet.

Yes, but DO NOT HACK IT UP!!!!!!!
tophatne1:
I might be new but I have enough respect for the classics to not hack any of them up or turn them into some monstrosity. :)
I'm calling the guy tonight. I hope it's not the cabaret style cabinet with the woodgrain sides. If so I'll probably pass it up. I'm not a big fan of those types of cabinets at all.
