I'm typically a lurker in here and I just had to pop in and say "LMAO"! Definitely got my quote of the day! LOL!
Hopefully the LMAO part wasnt' too offensive! :)

The executive at a previous company I worked for was one of the original team members for the Q*Bert project. (a very cool guy)
He originally wanted to call it "Snot and Boogers" which obviously didn't fly. Cool hearing about all the old stories nonetheless.
He also did the old Bases Loaded game, and MACH 3 I believe.

I recall reading that Q-Bert had that cannon type nose cause they originally intended Q-Bert to be able to shoot through it but that never materialized. They still kept the nose though. As for the falling noise, they would rig a small sand bag or something like that to fall inside the arcade cab whenever Q-Bert would fall ingame to make it seem realistic. Nifty!
Q-Bert was one of the first if not the first arcade game I played back when I was a tyke. I've been putting off making my cab due to budget constraints but its design is a tribute to the original Q*Bert cab. Not an exact replica but it will contain some of its similarities. ;D

The machine I have is basically requiring video adjustment every time I power it up (ie it requires some horiz or vert adjustment b/c it will either roll from left to right slowly or things like that)- once adjusted it's fine until the next time you shut it off. Is that something that a cap kit resolves? (I know, everyone's probably saying JUST LEAVE IT ON THEN!!) :D

Wow- not many replies on this one..
So does that mean that a Q*bert cab is somewhat rare? Or it just doesn't have much of a fan following today?
