Best way to use Pole Position cab as mame?

(1/3) > >>

I may be getting my hands on a PP cab, and thought it would be a good time to finally get a driving cab up and running.

I realize I can hook up the wheel to a mouse hack or optipac, but I was curious about the pedal.  If I hook up the pedal with an APAC, would that also work for games that had a "digital" pedal?  (if there were any).  I've seen people use microswitches on pedals to make it easier in mame, but what did the majority of 360 racing games use?  Pots or switches?

Bottom line, would a horiz monitor, 360 wheel (mouse hack) and APAC'd pedal suffice for the majority of 360 racing games?

Thanks,
Stobe

Hey there!
I imagine this will be moved, so I'll just reply here anyway :-)
Yes, an apac will work fine and games with analog and digital pedals will work fine.
All in all, I have maybe 20ish 360 wheel games I play on mine, though there are still some I havent set up, as they need more buttons than I'm willing to install on my CP.
Lemme know if you need any help or info on setting it all up, I have plenty of pics, etc..

Stobe:
Oops, thought I was in MAIN when I posted.  I just notified mods to move.

thanks,
Stobe

Check my previous posts for more PP mame info, I had to recompile to get PP shifter suppport properly working, and added a 4 speed shifter for some more flexibility (more games)

Stobe:
Cool.  Some good info to know.

Did you ever compile a list of the 270 games that can be dip-switched to 360?

Also, how many more games did the 4 speed shifter buy you?  (I'm guessing mostly 270 games)

And lastly, is there any advantage to the newer style APAC (6 axis) vs the older one?  I think the older one with button inputs would be better for this project, so I could use the inputs for the shifter and eliminate the need for any other encoder, right?

Thanks again,
Stobe
