NEED: 5.25" floppy disk drive
shardian:
Hi all,
Here at work we have some old 5.25 floppy disks with data that I would like to transfer over to cd. I don't have a 5.25 floppy drive and was hoping someone on here had one taking up space they wouldn't mind parting with.
Can anyone help me out?

How in the world do you still have viable data on a 5.25 floppy? Did they have another drive that just went on the fritz? Or was your place of business stuck in a time warp, and recently broke free?<--Easily the more obvious scenario. ;D

They may be too antique to find at a PC recycling type of place but it would be worth looking. I can't imagine it being more than a few bucks and by the time it's shipped from one of us, unless it's local or given to you for free, you will probably save money with the recycling place.
I can call my grandfather (perpetual pac-rat) and see if he has some. If he does I'd probably only charge shipping from Seattle but I wouldn't be able to guarantee a quick process. If I had time to pick it up this weekend I could send it from work on Monday, but that's if he has it and if I make it over to his place this weekend. Try local and if that fails and nobody else has a more promising offer PM me later this week.

I may have one for you if all else fails.
Just last week I found a big box full of old 5 & 1/2" backup discs about 10 years old.
Rather than try to blank them before throwing em away I just cut em in 1/2 with scissors.
Then I remembered back to the days when I paid about $2 / disc and suddenly felt a bit ill.
