I picked up 2 sheets of FOAM CORE BOARDS from the office supply tonight, and made my Bezel
It looks good, although I need to use some velcro to keep things in place. It's not all "shaped" like most bezels, but it blends well with the Trinitron's existing contour, and hides all of the cabinet's inside... Meets the goals to me!

Next I'm putting my plexiglass in there... Stay tuned :)

Thanks for the help! This is such a great community, I am happy to be a part of it.

If you Bezel looks good ... but not great then I would suggest getting some smoked or grey tinted glass instead of plexiglass.  The tinted glass will help hide any imperfections in the bezel itself.

Yes, the tinted glass does a fantastic job and makes the screen look so nice too.

Thanks for the pointer.

I was planning on getting grey smoked plexi - instead of glass because I'm scared my 5 year old (or his friends) will break it somehow... I understand you can get tampered glass too but I don't know how confident I should be in it

any input is welcome.

This may be a bit late but I used the Happ Bezel with my Sony 27" TV and it came out great.  The curve is very slight and the space between the bezel and the tube is not noticable.

There's lots of pics on it in my project thread.

I also added tempered glass.  I was told that it's extremely tough when hit on it's face.  Impact to the corner's or sides can easily damage it.

Hi Dmod!

I took a quick look at your project thread, very cool stuff! I will read the details when I get a chance.

Thanks for letting me know about the Happ bezel. The foam boards were cheap (2 x $5) so if I end up moving to a platic bezel (happ) later I won't feel too bad. Tonight I'll probably velcro the one I made (curve it in place along the TV shape) and put it all in place ready for the glass (or plexi), and see how it looks.

I don't have that much space between the front of the TV and my controller surface - the thinner foam-core bezel works well in that respect. If I go Happ Bezel I'll have to shave an inch off my control surface.

BTW attached below is a photo, taken before I made the bezel :) ... SCRATCH-BUILT and designed (my own plans). I'm proud of it already :)

I hope you like my cabinet design + construction so far.

Thanks again.
