-VENDOR- Open - Numbski's Balls (Updated 11/9/2008, joystick tops)

Numbski:
Actually, I wasn't aware of the silica dust problem.  Thanks for the head's up.

I actually went looking for uranium glass, and the problem is that 1" is the largest I could find.  You want 35mm (or close to it).  That's 1 3/8".  If you find a source, let me know. ;)

I have a couple of new balls I've made, but they aren't up on the store yet.  Navy blue glass with a mirror/chrome finish.  VERY nice looking, btw.

My father in-law did design work a couple of years for libby glass making molds in the early 70's  he designed most of the cut-glass ware and almost all of their 3d glassware.  He says thats why their are no old-timers doing it.  7 years is about the max before the lungs get completely shredded because it goes in but doesn't come back out.  Baically any time you grind, polish, or cut glass you want a full respirator

Numbski:
This is very useful stuff.  The thing that puzzles me is the fact that I'm constantly flooding the workpiece with water.  I wouldn't expect it to ever get airborne. :|

This isn't worth dying over, of course.  When you say a full respirator, you mean have a tank of breathable O2 sitting by and you breathe from the tank?  Or just a good quality dustmask?

Goz:
Any chance you'll have more balltops available anytime soon?

Numbski:
Yeah, this evening in fact.  ;D
