Question about button sizes
stephenp1983:
Are the buttons hole size typical the same say as the holes for joysticks on control panels. I am asking because I plan to get a bartop kit from mameroom and get it drilled for two u360 sticks and 6 buttons in the middle. For the time I will only be using 1 joystick and want to plug the whole with either another button or a button stopper.
DaveMMR:
I'm assuming I did it correctly when I say that I used the same spade bit to cut the button holes and the joystick hole for the U360's (1-1/8"). If not, it seems to work fine otherwise. ;)
u_rebelscum:
They can be the same size. But sometimes, especially on wood CPs that the joystick are mounted the full thinkness (no routing), the joystick hole needs to be bigger or the distance of travel is restricted.
Better ask mameroom what they do.
DaveMMR:
Really? I don't recall hitting any sides of the wood on 3/4" and there are no restrictor plates installed. I actually better double check.
I suppose try it on a scrap piece and you could always go 1-1/4" if needed.
Xam:
I went 1 1/4" on my joys and 1 1/8" on my buttons. I think 1 1/8 would have worked fine on the joys.
