Advanced VGA Pinout?
Thenasty:
does the VGA port work and and the DVI one ?
Confuse about having 2 monitors using the JPAC (do you have 2? and AMP ? )
I have connected 2 Arcade monitorsbefore. All I did was connect VGA PORT to AMP and both RGB/V/H/ sync WIRES on both monitors were twisted as one and BINGO, it work. Both images/game are on the 2 monitors.
SailorSat:
Okay a more detailed info :)
I got two cabs, one with a Hantarex Polo, and the second one with a Hantarex MTC 9110
Theres a VGA-Amp attached to the Polo, and a J-PAC to the MTC 9110.
Right now the MTC 9110 is mounted vertical and the Polo is mounted horizontal, and they are driven by two Radeon 9200SE (one AGP and one PCI).
So I can play vertical games on the vertical monitor and vice versa.
Also I can play dual screen games on dual screens, as long as I turn the MTC 9110 to horizontal.
I recently managed to programm both heads on a NVidia GeForce 6600GT (and my 7600GT later on) and want to swap the two (quite old) Radeons out and put the 6600GT in.
However, I can't enable the seconds head because the NVidia drivers keeps saying theres nothing attached to it.
So I need to know how a graphics card does sense a monitor connected.
As for my test, I attached an old 15" VGA monitor and it was INSTANTLY detected, and it doesn't support DDC for sure, also my 29" VGA is detected instantly after plugin in, so it needs to be some simple "close on connect" switch.
I've attached some pics...
Here we got the MoBo.
And the two Radeons
Some shots in "single screen" mode.
And in "dual screen" mode.
P.S. Yeah... those pics are quite old, done with a real crappy Handy Cam ^^
SailorSat:
update on myself...
it seems modern cards sense an analog monitor by the 75 Ohm resitors betwen the RGB Pins and their ground.
however, neither die j-pac nor the videoamp do have these resistors, and that seems to be why they are not detected as analog vga monitor.
if i just connect 3 75ohm resistors on the vga connector on my j-pac, would that work?
NickG:
try it! I had a similar problem before. I had a compsoite video output on a mini-itx board that would work properly with a regular television connected, but it would not work with my car lcd composite video input: The lcd would not provide 75 Ohm load without signal sensed, and the signal would not be sent from the motherboard without 75 Ohm impedance sense. I placed a 75 Ohm resistor from the composite video output to the signal return (ground) an it worked.
