MSG_ commands and parallel ports
(1/1)
dibb1er:
i was reading through some old posts and came across this one
http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=55069.msg540049#msg540049
which got me wondering about turning on lights etc using MSG_ commands in wincab
so, um, is there a way to tap into these MSG_ commands at all?
for example, if i am using the MSG_SKIPLASTOK set to 10secs (or however long), and wanted to light up the corresponding button on the CP for the same amount of time.
obviously, to do what i want this to do, i will need some custom software and circuitry to access the parallel port (i think i might call in a favour from my boss for this).
but, is this possible at all?
if not, no worries, i will just get my skin to pop up a JPG in an obvious part of the skin with the same info
but if it is possible, this would make for one awesome Wincab CP ;D

Right now, no. The MSG_ messages are internal to WinCab and are not passed to Windows. However, I do have plans to support external devices; I have purchased an LED-Wiz and a couple of LCD 4x20 displays to experiment with. I could theoretically at least add control for the keyboard LED's easily, so if you were using an I-Pac you could have at least those three.

That would be pretty cool
i'm actually using a keyboard hack, so I could rig up something with the LEDs that are already on the circuit board
