Question about new Act Labs Light guns

(1/2) > >>

AMDman13:
I'm having trouble figuring out what all to buy.
I want to purchase the Act Labs guns for two player use.

Do I buy both of the following items?
1) Dual 2-Player Enabled PC USB Light Gun for MAME32 for $99.99

And

2) ACT LABS PC USB Light Gun for MAME32 for $79.99

The total being $180.00 for two guns? Dang seems steep!

Or does the two player enabled already include both guns?

I don't want the LCD Topgun.  Standing 10 feet away from the screen and trying to hide those IR strips on my cab seems like too much hassle.

BobA:
You only need one dual player enabled and one normal light gun.   You can save $20 when setting up a 2 gun PC USB configuration.

Quote from Act Labs site. " For 2 player action, pair this regular PC USB light gun with our Dual 2-player enabled version!"

AMDman13:
I'm confused. Isn't the  ACT LABS PC USB Light Gun for MAME32 for $79.99 there "normal" light gun?

BobA:
Yup the regular one is 79.99 and the one needed to make a 2 player system is 99.99

No, not if you only want them used for mame (or use win2000).  Two normal lightguns work great in current official mame.

The dual player model is only needed for non-mame games (aka non-rawInput games), or mame prior to the switch, or win2000 computers.

The only things you need to do to use two normal guns in mame is to leave "-dual_lightguns" disabled and remap as needed.  Oh, and use the standard mouse drivers, no fancy "dual mouse" drivers.

OTOH, if you want to play other games that are compatable with actlabs dual player gun, go ahead and buy one of each.
