Super Joystick not clicking the microswitch
(1/1)
King Friday XIII:
I installed and wired up all of my controls for my first cab in a test CP. The test CP is 1/2" MDF (the real one will be 3/4"). I mounted the Super Joysticks without a recess (since I plan on recessing 1/4" on the 3/4") in 1 1/8" holes. When I move the joystick around it hits the sides of the hole before it clicks the microswitches.
I constructed the joystick using the exploded view that comes with the control and it's the little "cone" shaped piece that's hitting the MDF. Is this part necessary? Is my hole too small? Did I do something wrong?
King Friday XIII:
Looking at the picture of the constructed joystick on Happ's website I think I found out the problem. The "double ended cone thingy" (is this the actuator?) is what actually hits the metal prongs on the microswitches, right? I'm not doing this. I have mine on top of the base. I think that's the problem.

No need to think it's the problem as I can CONFIRM that is the problem. That cone "actuator" needs to be at the bottom of the stick. Put it on with the larger side first and you have an 8-way stick, put it on with the smaller side first and you have a (albeit crappy) 4-way stick.
King Friday XIII:
Thank you for confirming my suspicion, Frizzle. I'm slowly figuring all this stuff out.
