X-Arcade easiest, and cheapest for an XBOX
M.Lanza:
It's not that hard. It just involves soldering wires to the button contacts on the pcb.
You might have better luck hacking third party ps1 controllers as opposed to hacking
the ps2 controllers since the buttons on the ps2 controllers are analog.
Here are some links to sites detailing the controller hack.

Someone say controller hack? ;D

The Xarcade unit is a good piece of hardware. Fact of the matter is you can easily replace the parts in it, like buttons and joysticks, with no problem if you get really unhappy with them.
Hawk Daddy:
Does anybody know where I can find this information out for an xbox controller. The after market ones will be fine. As I don't really want to destroy the Microsoft ones. And if I mess up it's not as expensive.

Yeah get the Xbox controller module for the Xbox and the X Arcade.
I have this setup and it works a charm. You can swap from digital to analogue and it works with most games like DOA and Soul Calibre.
Yes I know £/$25 is alot to pay for the module, but I have them for every other console bar the GC and it works like a dream. You will need a 4 Way 9pin Switchbox if you have more than one console.
Don't listen to those who knock the X Arcade, they are just jealous, and proabaly cannot afford one.
:laugh2:
Actually I just ordered and installed some cherry microswitches and they do make the difference - alot quieter and more authentic.
BTW the controller works great with MameDox, DaphneX and XBMC. I would change one the joysticks to a 4 way if you have a dual.
