How do you wire a Opti-pac for a trackball, 2 Optical rotaries, a spinner?

(1/1)

oqqalz:
I have a panel that I am working on where I will have a Happ rotary optical joysticks for player one and player 2; plus, the panel will have a Happ trackball, and an Apache Blackhawk spinner.  I want the trackball, spinner, and one of the rotaries working for player one and the rotary for player 2.

Now, the problem is how to wire it all with the Opti-Pac.  Also, what interface (USB/Serial) to use on the Opti-Pac and software?

Can I do the trackball to "Player 1 trackball", spinner to X1 and X2 of "Player 1 Rotary", Player 1 rotary to X1 and X2 of "Player 1 Rotary", and Player 2 rotary to Y1 and Y2 of "Player 1 Rotary" and yet still map rotary Player 2 to Player 2 in MAME?  Do I have to use MAME Analog+ to do this?  Is MAME Analog+ a supplement to MAME32 or a replacement?

Do I have to switch to Serial mode on the Opti-pac to accomplish what I want?  Would I still use MAME or use MAME Analog+?

USB.  Only very old version of DOS MAME support multiple devices under serial anymore.

You can do it several ways, but that is not one of them.  The most intuitive is probably trackball to Player 1 Trackball. P1 Rotary to Player 1 Rotary X, P2 Rotary to Player 2 Rotary X, Spinner to Player 1 Rotary Y.

Not if you are using later than MAME 104u5 or so, at least for the dual control games under USB and XP.  UrebelScum has a thread on the versions that support what in the software forums under a thread on "Which version of Windows".

The MAME32 version is a replacement for MAME32.  The commandline version is a replacement for command line.

Absolutely not.

Latest version of MAME are incredibly easy to configure.  See my post from yesterday in http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=62774.45
