Deguassing Wands rock!
Ken Layton:
Actually you start 8 feet away from the monitor with the coil perpendicular to the monitor. As you slowly approach the monitor you slowly move the coil from perpendicular to parallel to the face of the monitor. Move the coil in a circular manner around the face of the tube then wave the coil around the sides of the cabinet or tube. Now you start slowly backing away from the monitor and returning the coil from a parallel orientation back to a perpendicular orientation. once you're back to around 8 feet away now you switch off the coil.
Keep in mind you must do this all within a two minute timespan or you'll burn up the coil. It is only designed for intermittent duty cycles: two minutes (Maximum) on time followed by 30 minutes off time.

You can use other heavy magnets for this... a strong corded drill will sometimes do the job on monitors that aren't too messed up.

I spoke too soon :( the discolouration has come back. The speakers must be too close to the screen. I'm going to try some aluminium foil. I can't find bucking magnets local to here. Anyone know where I can get them?

I was using my coil just a few minutes ago and my pacemaker exploded. What do I do n
