Do the leafs work on the Happs Super joysticks?

Maybe a bit of a dumb question, but what exactly is the advantage to leaf switches?
(After some research I've found that these things were invincible apparently, and don't face the problem of burning out like new switches do)
The only thing I KNOW about them is that they make for a virtually silent button press and eliminate the "click" noise. I am wondering if there is any sort of actual performance benefit.
I've used Cherry switches in every project I have down so far, Pop'n Music controller, MAME machine, and now the arcade cabinet I am rebuilding. Maybe I am too new school and love the satisfaction I get from the click.
