He was bringing it over to convert it into a vintage race car, they told him European cars can be used for racing but they can't be registered for daily drivers. It was an emissions issue. I don't know if this is a Illinazi or federal rule, I also don't know if this applies to Canadian cars.
Make sure you can register it before you get it.

It was my understanding that the Nissan Skyline is not street legal in the US due to emissions. I'm not sure about other cars. You sure see alot of Lamboghinis and Ferraris on the Florida coast area(I consider seeing 3 or more on one trip alot ;)) so they must be legal.

Those cars are modified to be U.S. street-legal, emissions-wise. Remember, you're talking about a high-end dealer with big money customers who don't care about what has to happen to make it legal to drive, they just want to be able to show off their wealth.

I know little about cars like that... I figured you were talking about the burned out junker he brought in on a flatbed to take the place of the green car he lost and then the Chinese guys destroyed before the bald guy "took possession of it".

The burned out junker was a supra turbo with a 2JZ-GTE engine IIRC...the skyline was owned by a different member of the club...or whatever.
that movie sucked

No, I am talking about the second movie. There is an intro montage to the movie that shows the lead guy racing his way across the country. At one point, he see's a Nissan Skyline half covered by a tarp, with about 50 years of rust covering the whole car. He hands the junker guy a wad of cash, then he fixes the car up. Finally, you see him drive up to the opening race in his 200,000+ Grey Skyline.

I also never watched the third movie. The "redneck in Japan" plot line was all I could stomach.
ChadTower:
Ah, we assumed you meant the first because you used the title to the first.

No, I was right.
The first one was called The Fast & The Furious. 2nd one called 2fast2furious. Third one The Fast & the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
