registering a canadian car with no title in US
pointdablame:
Was this brought over as a track car?
Depending on how different the Golf models are, this could be a huge pain in the ass. I know a lot of folks who tried to bring over cars (mostly "tuners" like supras, skylines, etc) and its months and months of hassle after hassle.
If that car was brought her under the guise of being a track car, it'll be an even bigger PITA to carry it over to getting a real title for it.
Good luck.. its not exactly easy to bring a car across borders, especially in NJ

I could always part it if I couldn't use it. Owner said that I could do whatever I wanted with it. All it really needs is new pads and rotors.
Dartful Dodger:
A friend of mine brought a Ford Mexico(Escort) from England.
He was bringing it over to convert it into a vintage race car, they told him European cars can be used for racing but they can't be registered for daily drivers. It was an emissions issue. I don't know if this is a Illinazi or federal rule, I also don't know if this applies to Canadian cars.
Make sure you can register it before you get it.

It was my understanding that the Nissan Skyline is not street legal in the US due to emissions. I'm not sure about other cars. You sure see alot of Lamboghinis and Ferraris on the Florida coast area(I consider seeing 3 or more on one trip alot ;)) so they must be legal.
I felt like turning 2Fast2Furious off after that utterly stupid scene with the guy finding a rusty, old beatup Skyline in a junkyard. Talk about a joke.
ChadTower:
I figured it was provided by the cops, seeing as how he was a cop and was using it undercover and all. They would probably have a huge stockpile of old ricers seized after drug arrests and street racer arrests.
