Forum rules and suggestions for sellers/WTB - READ FIRST
saint:
[*]No illegal activity -- No copyright violations, no selling or trading for which you do not have a legal right to do so.
[*]No buying/selling/linking to same for xx-in-1 boards. By and large they include illegal copies of ROMs, or use unauthorized versions of MAME. Multi-boards that do not have these issues or other legal problems are fine. For example, an unpopulated Multi-Williams board for which you have to supply your own ROMs is OK.
[*]No hidden details, no "backup" CDs/DVDs, no "PM or email me for details," no winks or nods, no links to same, etc. .
[*]No spam -- Multi level marketing schemes (pyramid schemes), scams, etc...
[*]No reporting of MAME/roms ebay auctions. Just report them to ebay.
[*]No thread poisoning. Thread poisoning occurs when a person comes into a thread and posts something contrary to the spirit/intent of the thread.
[*]Modding a console for homebrew and MAME goodness is fair game for these forums. Piracy is not. If at any point modded consoles are shown to be illegal in the United States then such discussions would need to be curtailed (discussing the ethics thereof, or stating that it is possible would be OK, selling of such items would not.) However, as of this writing I am unaware that modding hardware is illegal.
[/list]
[*]Don't use PM's to get around these rules. If it's not allowed on the public board, it's not allowed in PM's either.
These don't mean you can't debate the merits of something for sale, build vs buying, etc... Telling someone they're on crack and berating them for ripping off the public because you can do it yourself for less, however, goes against the grain of how this forum runs.
Example: Dude, you're a crook! $1000 for an arcade cab? I built my own for $25! ... Bad
Example: The link you posted for the 27" monitor for $400 is more expensive than this link for the same thing for $350... OK
Don't be afraid to help each other avoid getting ripped off, but be polite about it please. Thanks!

Here's a suggestion for sellers
In the subject of the thread put your location in between brackets, like:
[AU], [UK], [US-WI], [US-NY]
So an example title would be
FS: 19" arcade monitor [UK]
WTB: Empty jamma cabinet [US-FL]
Also in the title might want to put willing to ship overseas or local/pickup only.
At least put the country in the title, state/province is nice for local/pickup only.
This will make it easier for buyers and traders to locate threads they are interested in and in their own country.

I posted this in the rules. I will unsticky this once the idea becomes popular. Once it becomes popular this thread isn't needed as most people will see the trend and follow it.
I've seen this on many other B/S/T forums (especially automotive forums).

What a great idea! I find myself constantly frustrated seeing such great deals only to find out they're half way across the coutry or worse, the world! Now (if this catches on) I can just skip over the stuff that I know is too far.
Now, if only there were a way that you could make this stand out more... I must admit, I usually skip over the stickies. :-\ I'm sure others do too.
ultramagnus:
yeah, this is a good idea, i would hate to see how much it would cost to ship a cab from say the states
