USB=5V
I have an AC/DC adapter that puts a wide range out @ 1700mA.  I would assume 6V is safe, but how much would be too much.  ;)

The standard recoil on the LCD Topgun isn't a recoil coil! It's an electric motor that drives the topslide back through a set of gears.

I'd strongly recommend against using anything other than the 5V DC specified by the manufacturer. I don't think there is any internal voltage regulation in there. You can pull a high ampage +5V and Ground, direct from your PC power supply.

Been there! Tried that! Got the T-shirt!......

It won't work, because of the fisheye distortion you'll get from that lens setup. You also need a further lens system to remove the problem, and that's when it starts to get very expensive. The problem I'm finding, is that to work effectively, the lenses have to be as near to optically perfect as possible and that's what costs the big bucks.

Still on the case with that one....... You could give it a try and see if you get a better result than I did though.

Thanks for the pointer.

I was concerned with drawing the +5 volts DC from an Xbox port (600mA was too high of a current draw), when not using a PC.

I'll have my multimedia PC beside the xbox anyways, so I'll just convert a molex to feed the guns right from the PC's power supply.  :)

So, are we going to see any picts of the hack?

I would LOVE to see it!
