Mad Dog and the other ALG are avail on cd for nearly nothing. I picked up 4 of them for under $10 total, run them off the HD with the Top Gun and it's super nice. Games are higher res on the XP version cd-roms so keep that in mind if you purchase.

Storage is cheap.  Drive prices are insane.  Half a terabyte for $150.  Unreal.

I remember back at school (uk) when they got a 10MB Whinchester hard drive for our BBC network, cost £400+. It is quite scary how bang for buck keeps getting better.

I look forward to seeing all games one day emulated in MAME. Let's face it, it's come a long way since Nicola Salmoria nailed that Pac-Man emulation back in the day.

MAME was intended to be THE complete cataloging of arcade emulation. Over the years they have incorporated code from many contributors, and, love it or hate it, they have tried to do it in as simple a way as possible.

OK, DAPHNE and other system emulators like Zinc etc may have more tweaks and features, but if they can simplify emulation to just be a couple of files without much configuration (as when CHD games were first emulated, requiring just a rom and a chd file) then that's got to be a good thing.

I struggled with DAPHNE's configuration, as I imagine many people did. Plus, wouldn't you love to have them all running from the same emulator? At least you get consistency and only have to set up one emulator.

Fair play to you guys on development. Laserdisc, HD or indeed anything else will be a welcome addition, no matter how long it takes.
