What else do I need to build a MAME cab?

Should have worded my reply better.
Surround sound, 5.1, is a waste of money.

You should run a good set of PC speakers with a sub. They are as cheaps as chips these days.
I like the Ozaki PC speakers. Cost about $18NZD which would be approx $12USD. They make a pretty good sound in a MAME cab. The little satellites can be easily removed from their plastic cases and mounted on your arcade cab. Another good thing about them is the satellite grills are flat to give you a nice finish and hide those ugly holes you cut.

Do you happen to have a link to the specific speakers you mentioned?  A friend is looking for some low profile ones for his MAME cab.  Thx!
(sorry for the thread hijack)

Not sure where you buy them in the USA. I am listening to a set right now. Streaming Chronix Radio at 128kbs. They sound pretty darn good IMO for the price.

Gahhh! Don't get those if you like the thumping bass! I have a set that looks exactly like those (though they have a different name plate). They do okay for the mids and highs (would actually do really well if you want that authentic arcade sound) but the bass is horrible!

Course this is just my opinion. They would certainly work fine for any MAME application if deep bass is not on your agenda. You can pick up a set at Fry's for around $14.

They dont have thumping bass as such.
But when they are removed from there plastic cases they sound pretty good for the money.

Not sure how much they guy wants to spend but I have been more than happy with the results from these.

Besides, how loud do you need it? Just for that one time you crank it up to show off to your mates?   :dunno
Because loud sounds while playing annoys the crap out of me.
