Opening Turtles Cabinet

(1/7) > >>

TMNTfan:
Hello,

I just received a dedicated Konami Turtles cabinet (not Turtles in Time) Everything is working fine, but I wanted to clean the glass on the inside and I just don't see the trick to opening it.

When I open the back I can ofcourse reach the PCB and with a stick (haha) I can reach the clamps that release the control panel, but I'm wondering how I can get the glass panel off?

There must be a system, right? (other than unscrewing everything and getting the monitor out. I just dont wanna risk damaging the cab)

I hope anyone has a solution?

Thanks in advance,

TMNTfan.

P.S. I also have a generic playscene cabinet and there you can unscrew a panel under the control panel, release the clamps, swing the panel back and just take the glass off.

This is a TMNT cab rather than a Stern Turtles, right ?

I don't have one of the former, but I would imagine that there must be some retaining mechanism, perhaps tied into the CP.

Pics might help.

Cheers.

from the coin door, open the latches you saw (don't do it from the back cover).  After lifting the control panel open you'll see a piece of metal at the bottom of the glass that you remove.  The glass comes right out.

TMNTfan:
Thanks for your quick replies.

This is the Konami Turtles cab

Here is a pic: http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?letter=T&game_id=10050

When I open the coindoor (beneath the control panel, I don't see the latches. There is immediately a ceiling of wood with the tube for the coins coming through it. Also, I don't see any screws, and it won't budge (should I slide it back, push it up?)

earlier, when I opened the latches from the back (with the stick), I even got the control panel off.
davieboynj, I know what you mean by the piece of metal holding the glass, but there are the coin slot and start buttons attached to it + I can't reach the bolts because it's behind the glass and very close to the monitor. (I don't wanna die) ;o)

If you really need pictures, tell me what I should photograph and I will find out how to post them on this board..

Thanks though,

TMNTfan

OOPS!

Ignore my comments - - They were for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cabinet.

But doesn't that make you TMHTfan?  :)

one question - - when they play the song in the beginning, does it actually say 'hero' or did they leave it 'ninja'?
