MameWah 1.61 and Mame 106-106u11 not working (explanation)

(1/3) > >>

Cananas:
It seems that the new version of mame has a bug in the command line parser, so that if you try to run a game with its name in Uppercase you get an error.

So,

mame -OPWOLF -> Error   EDIT: Fixed in 106u4, but doesn't load
mame -opwolf -> run OK

BTW I don't know what is the reason Mamewah writes the name of the rom in uppercase.

EDIT: Put in the subject the version of Mamewah that don't work with the lastest version of Mame (even 107, I presume.)

Howard_Casto:
actually the bug is that it ever allowed it the other way.

command-line options are supposed to be case-sensitive in a multi-platform app.

You shouldn't really be running 106u3 anyway.  MAJOR core changes... it won't be bug free again until .107  Stick to .106

Yes, they are. The nearby rom search engine is broken in this version. It is known bug. It is not only the conversion to lower case. This a problem for the people that they want to test the last version and use Mamewah, because only roms like 1942, 1943 (roms with numbers only) will load.

Yes, but someone must test those changes....

Howard_Casto:
I mean no offense but you don't install a test build of mame with a fe, you run it from the command line.  If you can't run from the command line then you probably aren't qualified to do debugging for the mame team anyway.

It's good that you posted this, but I don't think it's relavant info until .107 comes out.  As aaron himself said, don't run these builds and expect them to work correctly.

The upper/lower conversion is part of the "fuzzy logic system" that also handles the rom searching and the "best match" stuff.  All that code has to be re-written before stuff will work again.

You don't want understand... Try to test all mame games typing the rom name in the command line to test if the new render engine works with all of them!!!! Oh, sorry, I forget that you can't think  more than a one year old kid (Don't offense, please).

Why don't you try to help? Any problem? Oh, sorry again. I forgot that you are too busy debugging your  :censored: programs.

Aaron requested people to test the changes. Of course you are not part of this people. Sit on your chair and wait to the 107. In my town this is called egoism. Others like me want to help to MameDevs.

But after release 107, please be quiet.

Ooooh, do you think I didn't know that?. You're my man, Howard. Really. :applaud:
What can we do without your invaluable help, Howard?

Like I said before (in another topics), If you don't want to help, don't do it. But then, be quiet, please.
